What is your approach to tutoring AP Chemistry?

I have been teaching and tutoring AP Chemistry for over 15 years, and I think the concepts and math are something virtually any student can learn. The issue is that most AP Chem courses race through the material, and do not give students enough time to understand what they are doing. They are following procedures and recipes without a sense of what any of it means. I make sure that the material covered in AP Chem makes sense- this allows students to get a question correct even if it isn’t an exact copy of one they have seen before.

How does online tutoring work and is it effective?

For most AP Chem students, online tutoring is quite effective. If your student has a solid internet connection, a desire to learn, and a computer, they can succeed with online tutoring. I generally use Zoom, annotate my screen to show students how problems work, and send them a copy of the video session for future review. We start each session working through any rough spots from recent class lectures, and finish with a plan for preparing for the next quiz/exam. Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes, 1-2 times a week.

What are your rates and key policies?

£ 175/hr € 200/hr 
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid any penalty. A mutual environment of trust, communication, and participation is always expected.

Success is a partnership. I can guarantee that I will provide high quality instruction and expert guidance, and can promise that my students have had great results. Beyond that, a student’s results are a reflection of the effort they can put into the process.
